ALBANY, N.Y. -- With winter fast approaching and 2014 being an Olympic year, people in the Capital Region are gearing up for the start of ski and snowboarding season.
Vendors unloaded their trucks Thursday to set up for the nation's longest running consumer winter sports and travel shows.
The Albany Ski and Snowboard Expo returned to the Empire State Plaza this weekend, offering a look at the latest and greatest in winter sporting equipment, fashion and travel.
The Expo's Vice President says winter sports are crucial to New York's economy.
"Economically, obviously, other than horse racing, skiing and the winter sports is critical to New York State. We've got 11 New York mountains that participated in our free I Ski NY program and it's really a linchpin of economics in the winter months," said Lisa Audi, Albany Ski and Snowboard Expo Vice President.
And if you didn't get a chance to visit the expo on Saturday, you can still go on Sunday.
The expo is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
