SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Saratoga Springs City School District is responding to the use of a quote endorsement from Maple Avenue Middle School's principal on campaign materials.
Bob Rice, a candidate for the Wilton Town Board, issued the materials with a quote from Stuart Byrne. Byrne told the district that the quote attributed to him by the Rice campaign was used without his authorization.
Superintendent Michael Piccirillo says it's against school district policy for the district and any of its employees, acting in their official capacities, to engage in any partisan political activities.
Picirillo released a statement saying, "We are issuing this statement at this time simply to insure that no one has the impression that the school district or Mr. Byrne, in his capacity as middle school principal, has taken any position in favor of or against the election involving Mr. Rice."
