ROTTERDAM, N.Y. -- A Congregation prepares to say goodbye to its Funeral Chapel.
Congregation Agudat Achim's Cemetery Chapel is scheduled to be torn down Monday.
It's all part of an effort to renovate and beautify the cemeteries that the congregation oversees in Rotterdam. The congregation held an open house Sunday for people to share memories of the chapel.
Funeral services were held at the chapel from the 1920s until the mid-1990s.
Earlier this year, the Board of Trustees' decided to demolish the building due to lack of usage, condition, and maintenance of the octagonal brick structure.
