ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany Bishop Howard Hubbard will be honored by a local organization on Monday.
Bishop Hubbard will receive the 2013 Champion for New York's Children and Families Award by the Maternity and Early Childhood Foundation. The organization is dedicated to ensuring healthy babies and services for parents in New York State.
Last week, Bishop Hubbard celebrates his 75th birthday. According to Catholic Church law, a bishop must retire at age 75. However, Bishop Hubbard will continue to serve until Pope Francis names a replacement.
Bishop Hubbard has held the position since 1977.
