TIVOLI, N.Y. -- A colorful scene in Dutchess County as the annual Street Painting Festival is held in the Village of Tivoli.
This is the 13th year the event is being held, with artists receiving free chalk and a square of pavement as their canvas.
Organizers say it's a good chance for residents and visitors alike to enjoy what the village has to offer. They say Tivoli's location is what enables them to host the event.
"Tivoli is sort of on a dead-end here, we're not on 9 like Red Hook or Rhinebeck, so we can take advantage of that by closing off the streets and having a little street festival. Get together, do something new, we have this beautiful Broadway, mountain views and it gives the kids something to do," says Tivoli Deputy Mayor Joel Griffith.
Organizers expect the art created at the festival to last for up to a few weeks depending on the weather.
