KINGSTON, N.Y. -- Don't worry, the British aren't coming.. but some Revolutionary War re-enactors are.
A group of roughly 70 people are recreating the historic burning of Kingston this weekend.
The incident was set off when someone shot at a British ship heading past Kingston en route to Saratoga.
The event is held every two years and includes re-enactments all over the city.
Unlike colonial times, organizers say these British soldiers are approachable if you want to learn some history.
Event organizer Don Beale says, "Talk to the re-enactors. These are all specialists. These people know their history very well. If you want to talk about British- that's me, I'm Cavalry. We have rebels, Navy, Marines, loyalists- we have Americans fighting for the Brits. That's something many aren't aware of- that a third of the population of Americans were on our side."
The re-enactment wraps up Sunday with an event in Forsyth Park.
