POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- On Wednesday, a public meeting will be held to discuss the future of the Dutchess County Jail.
County leaders have been considering options to resolve the jail's overcrowded inmate population. Over the summer, The county approved a $1.2 million bond to fund an expanded jail and criminal justice facility.
The bond enabled the county to conduct a study about building a bigger, state-of-the-art facility. County leaders have also approved an additional $3 million to cover overtime costs for jail staff.
Wednesday's forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowships on South Randolph Avenue in Poughkeepsie.
