TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Lighting near the construction zone of the Tappan Zee Bridge will be rearranged to make it more safe for boaters.
According to bridge officials, the navigation lights will now be about 300 feet closer on each side of the navigation channel. They are currently located about 900 feet apart on the footings of the twin spans.
The change is in response to a deadly boat crash in July. Two people were killed and two people were injured in the crash. Since the crash, more lights have been added to the equipment near the bridge.
