GOSHEN, N.Y. -- The Sparrowbush man indicted for the murder of another man wanted for rape has posted bail.
Family and friends gathered outside Orange County Court on Friday to rally support for David Carlson. Judge Nicholas DeRosa set Carlson's bail at $50,000 cash, or $100,000 bond.
On Thursday, Orange County District Attorney Frank Phillips announced Carlson was indicted by a grand jury on criminal charges for the fatal shooting of Norris Acosta-Sanchez. Acosta-Sanchez was wanted by the Ramapo Police Department on an arrest warrant for rape and other charges.
New York State Police said Carlson was walking Acosta-Sanchez at gunpoint, when shots were fired and Acosta-Sanchez was killed. Carlson is due back in court next week.
