KINGSTON, N.Y.-- Local elected officials, businesses, and labor leaders are joining together today to urge New Yorkers to vote for the casino referendum.
The group is holding a news conference in Kingston to inform voters on the benefits of the law. Ulster County Executive Mike Hein, Sullivan County Legislature Chairman Scott Samuelson and other officials will talk about how the proposal will boost local tourism and create jobs.
The officials say the casino referendum will bring more than $51,000,000 to the Catskills and Hudson Valley Region.
They say that money will be used to improve schools, help local governments fund services, and lower property taxes.
