POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says excessive speed and reckless driving are factors in a motorcycle crash that killed one man last week.
Last Sunday morning, Joshua Bohlmann and Anthony Derienzo, 22, of Poughkeepsie, were riding their motorcycles on Route 9G in the Town of Poughkeepsie. Two Sheriff's deputies tried to stop the pair.
The Deputies say the two men ignored them and drove off at excessive speeds. That's when Bohlmann, who was driving with a learner's permit, lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on Route 9G in the area of Cottage Street.
Derienzo took another route during the incident and was later identified and arrested a few days later. He has charged with reckless driving, excessive speed and unlawfully fleeing a police officer.
