NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -Governor Andrew Cuomo says he's pushing tourism in communities recovering from Superstorm Sandy. It comes nearly a year since Sandy slammed into New York state.
Cuomo's "Come See the Comeback" campaign features MTA discounts and promotions. The Governor also unveiled television ads that highlight the progress communities have made in rebuilding. He says they are ready to welcome visitors once again.
"The outpour of support for the Sandy communities was real something special. People couldn't do enough and give enough. They just showed up. So I now that spirit is there. Celebrate the anniversary with the community by visiting the Sandy community. The MTA can take you there," said The Governor.
The federal government recently approved $3.5 billion in MTA reconstruction. Cuomo says new switches, new signals, storm barriers, and pumps will allow MTA to be in better shape than when Sandy hit.
