MONTICELLO, N.Y. -- The Center for Discovery in Monticello held its 18th annual "Harvest Festival", along with the presentation of two awards; the Thomas P. Morahan Lifetime Achievement Award and Green Shovel Award.
This year, the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, who is the Chair of Mental Hygiene in New York State, and has been a huge supporter of the Center.
The harvest festival is held every year, to celebrate the work of the employees at the center. Employees, who Assemblywoman Gunther says, are dedicated to their jobs.
"They give to these young adults, children, and those who are aging out here a whole and wonderful life. And that's so important to treat our most fragile population with dignity and respect and giving them the best possible life ever," said Aileen Gunther, (D) Assembly in Forestburgh.
There were also plenty of fall activities to enjoy at the festival. The food from the harvest was all grown from one of the gardens at the Center for Discovery.
