ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Orange County Executive Ed Diana seems to be in good spirits only days after having liver transplant surgery.
Diana was admitted to the hospital Saturday for surgery. He's been suffering from a condition called nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and was on a wait list for a new liver for about a year.
According to Diana's family, the county exec was awake and talking only 14 hours after surgery.
Diana also called his office and spoke with the acting county executive Monday morning. The acting exec said Diana was "positive and upbeat" during the phone call.
