ALBANY, N.Y. --They served our country, and now veterans are being served with free legal counsel and assistance Saturday at Albany Law School's Veterans’ Service Day.
The program is run by students and has helped more than 200 veterans in the past two years. A number of different organizations at the event gave counseling, financial services, education consulting, and employment assistance.
Congressman Paul Tonko was also in attendance and presented two letters to honor veterans Mark Myers and Joel Abelove for their service to the country.
"Their service to this country is undeniable. Their love of country is undeniable. And this nation owes it all to veterans and their families," said Representative Paul Tonko, 20th Congressional District.
Local businesses were encouraged to participate by providing their services or sponsoring the event.
