WATERVLIET, N.Y. -- It might have been a little chilly outside, but dozens of people were out filling their stomachs with food at a different kind of fundraiser.
A food truck fundraiser was organized to help the family of a Watervliet Police Officer, whose wife recently was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. Along with warm food, there was a Chinese auction and a raffle, with proceeds going to the family.
"We wanted to do something different, and the first thing that came to my mind was lunch trucks. Get some food trucks in here and get the people of the community out and spend some money," said Sergeant, Mark Spain, Watervliet Police Department.
Some of the many trucks that participated included: Bootleggers, Fast Trax, Dolans Hot Dogs, and Coccadotts.
Truck vendors at the event either gave a percentage of their proceeds of the day, or a flat donation.
