KINGSTON, N.Y. -- Hundreds of racers come out to raise money for cancer patients as part of the 10th annual Bike for Cancer Care.
Racers could participate in either a 50, 25 or 12 mile race. About 150 volunteers and months of planning made this event possible.
Money raised from the race will benefit the Benedictine Health Foundation's Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund.
Organizers say this year, they have had the largest registration and they hope to raise more money than past years.
"The fund has grown substantially over the years. We're on pace to give out $84,000 in financial assistance to cancer patients this year. So the reality is the more money we raise, the more people we can help so we try to raise the bar every year," said Dan Gruner, Chairperson for Bike for Cancer Care.
Gruner says they expect to raise $100,000 from this year's race.
