KINGSTON, N.Y. -- Broadway was shut down to make way for music and dancing as the first annual Latino block party kicks off in Kingston.
The street was filled with dancers, mariachi bands and singers, all celebrating Latino culture. Party goers also enjoyed Mexican food while learning about their traditions.
There is a growing Latino community in Kingston and organizers hope this will teach people about the culture, while bringing everyone together.
"It's an honor to be standing here today to demonstrate how diverse our community is and how when we all work together, we have the capacity to be really able to show, we're not only the state's first capital, but we're a city that really embraces everyone to be a model city," Mayor Shayne Gallo said.
The block party also featured a car show with about 50 cars on display.
