SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Saratoga County man who admitted to killing his mother and then burying her body under a shed has been sentenced to 19 years to life in prison.
Joshua McWain pleaded guilty to second degree murder charges earlier this year. He killed his mother, Carol Stanford, 59, last October. A neighbor called police after not seeing her for a few days.
Following an investigation, McWain admitted getting into an argument with her and then hitting her in the head with a floor buffer. He said he then buried her in a root cellar under a shed.
