ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. -- An alleged rapist was shot to death in the Town of Deerpark after police say he was confronted by a man outside a house.
Norris Acosta-Sanchez, 35, who was wanted by police in Rockland County for a number of charges, including second degree rape, was shot and killed Friday.
Police received a call around 9:30 a.m. Friday for a report of gunshots on Old Plank Road in the Town of Deerpark.
Authorities say David Carlson, 42, of Sparrow Bush, confronted Acosta-Sanchez in his yard. They say Carlson was armed with a 12 gauge shotgun and told them he was going to lead Acosta-Sanchez to a neighbor's home to call the police.
"At some point, Carlson fired two shots from the shotgun that did not strike Acosta-Sanchez. He then fired two additional, which resulted in Acosta-Sanchez's death," said State Police Major Patrick Regan.
Carlson is being charged with second degree murder.
