"There's a problem that started with my heart, but you can believe me that I'll get my new start," sang Anna King.
Extraordinary vocals telling the story of an anything but ordinary girl. More than 500 miles away from 13 year old Anna King, Liz Argotsinger and Teddi Knapp can feel Anna's spirit with every pin they create.
Argotsinger said, "I'm from Mayfield she's from Mayfield so there's that connection."
The women have never met Anna, who grew up near them in Mayfield before moving to Texas last year with her family. Just weeks after the move, Anna was diagnosed with dilated Cardiomyopthay, a condition that's left her on the heart transplant list for more than 500 days.
Teddi Knapp said, "I was given a gift, I did not ask for it but I nurture it and I like to give it out for free whenever I can."
Teddi's talent combined with Liz's packaging expertise are creating hundreds of guardian angel pins to sell and raise money for Anna and her family.
Carla Kolbe said, "Projects like this are just little bits of hope and something for Anna and her family to focus on and lets her know that people back here still care."
Carla Kolbe, a family friend of the Kings, is able to keep Anna in the loop of everything people back home are doing for her, through Face Time on her cell phone.
"It's so cool that people are still helping me since it's been so long and I've been waiting for this new heart for so long," said King.
Waiting has kept the sports lover, and social butterfly, in some measure of isolation.
She has a robot that goes to school for her when she isn't feeling up to it.
King said, "My friends call her Anna 2.0."
But even on the worst of days, Anna keeps a smile on her face, staying true to her mantra, Humor Heals the Heart.
"That's kind of just what capturing everybody is this personality of hers that seems to be so bright and aggressive and cheery going through what shes going through and shes giving people much inspiration," said King.
"Thank you so much for thinking about me I miss everyone at home so much and I can't wait to come back home and see everybody."
