NATIONWIDE -- Republicans are blaming the President and Congressional Democrats for failing to pass legislation that would create jobs. Democrats meanwhile, are firing back at House Republicans, claiming they blocked all efforts to spur the economy.
Congressman Paul Tonko said that President Obama's American Jobs Act will help bring America back.
"You're enabling communities by strengthening an infrastructure bank that cuts their cost of repairing infrastructure. You put to work educators, teachers, police officers, firefighters. These people will reflect their communities and their neighborhoods. We could have strengthened those numbers. Congress just punted, they didn't take action on that effort," said Tonko.
If passed, Tonko said the Jobs Act would also provide tax credits for businesses to encourage the hiring of unemployed veterans.
