NEW YORK -- Democratic Assembly candidate Cheryl Roberts is getting backed by U.S. Senator Kristen Gillibrand.

It's the first endorsement Roberts has received from a statewide elected official following her victory in the Democratic primary for the 107th Assembly District.

Gillibrand is a resident of that district, which includes parts of Rensselaer, Columbia and Washington counties.
