BLOG: Albany County Executive rescinds state of emergency

By: Web Staff

Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy has rescinded the State of Emergency effective immediately.

“We were prepared and were extremely fortunate that Sandy's impact in Albany County has been minimal,” said McCoy. “By revoking the State of Emergency, I am am able to offer assistance to those neighboring areas that were not so lucky and may need some help. There are thousands of people without power throughout Albany County but crews are working to restore electricity as quickly as possible. We may still experience high winds and gusts that could knock out power lines. Be safe and avoid and downed wires. I would like to thank all County employees who assisted in our preparedness efforts and who will continue to clear debris.”

United Way 2-1-1 remains a 24/7 operation. All shelter information, emergency contact information and health and human services issues that arise can be addressed by dialing 2-1-1 from any cell phone or land line in Albany County.
