It's time now to honor our kid of the week.
This week the title goes to 14-year-old Jessica Beaumont of Bennington, Vermont.
After hearing about the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary school, Jessica decided she wanted to support the victims' families.
Jessica got the permission of her middle school principal to order rubber wristbands - with her own money - and sell them to students and staff of Mount Anthony Union Middle School. The wristbands are imprinted with Sandy Hook, and she has been selling them for $1 each. So far, Jessica has collected nearly $500. Once she's done, the money will be sent to the Sandy Hook School Support Fund.
Jessica, for generosity and thoughtfulness, you are our kid of the week.
