NEW YORK -- It will be an all-star-studded event at the Mets home field next year as officials announce that Citi Field will be the site of the 2013 All-Star Game.
The 84th annual Midsummer Classic will be the second time the Mets host the game. Hall of Famers like Robert Clemente and Mickey Mantle circled the base pads the last time the Mets hosted the game, in 1964.
The Amazings are being rewarded after celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, "I think we should never forget that, while this is New York City and we are honored to host it, support for this event comes from the whole region, outside of New York and in our great state."
The game is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, 2013.
