ALBANY, N.Y. -- There have been rumors for a few weeks, but now UAlbany is officially confirming that football will be moving to the CAA in the 2013 season along with Stony Brook.
The CAA currently consists of Delaware, Georgia State, James Madison, Maine, New Hampshire, Old Dominion, Rhode Island, Richmond, Towson and Villanova.
The official word comes on UAlbany's second day of practice for the upcoming season.
The Great Danes have about three weeks before their season opener against Colgate.
UAlbany won the NEC last year enroute to their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. This season they've been picked to repeat as champs, and even though it seems like just yesterday when former Section II standouts like Andrew Smith and Paul Booker of Guilderland committed to UAlbany, they're now in their final season with the Great Danes and want to match what the seniors before them were able to do.
