Nets take round one in battle for New York

By: Web Staff

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Better late than never. After the game was postponed by Sandy on November 1st, the Brooklyn Nets emerge victorious in their first "Battle of New York" with the Knicks.

Carmelo Anthony had 35 points and Tyson Chandler had 28, but it wasn't enough to get the win for the Knicks. Deron Williams and Brook Lopez led the way for Brooklyn in the overtime win.

It was all Brooklyn in overtime and the Nets pulled out a 96-89 win to move into a first place tie with the Knicks.

It was the first matchup of Brooklyn and New York pro franchises since the Dodgers played the New York Giants on September 8th, 1957 at the Polo Grounds.

The two teams will play again on December 11th.
