SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Shayne Gostisbehere is the first Union hockey player to ever be asked to try out for a spot on Team USA's world junior championship team. The final roster cuts will be made Christmas eve, but based on what Gostisbehere did in an exhibition game on Thursday, his spot on the team might become permanant.
USA took on Sweden in a pre-tournament tuneup game. With the game tied at 2-2 in overtime, Gostisbehere hit a slapper off the face off win, and buried the game winner for team USA.
America won 3-2 in overtime. USA takes on Finland on Saturday in their final exhibition game. The tournament starts for real on December 27th in Finland.
