SARATOGA RACE COURSE -- This Saturday is the one of the biggest races of the summer - the 132nd running of the Alabama Stakes. The Grade 1 race is for 3-year-old fillies.
Believe You Can will not be racing this Saturday. The filly won the Kentucky Oaks, but her trainer said while nothing major is wrong, she just seems tired and wants to give her some rest.
Among those in the running is Zo Impressive. The Alabama Stakes is a mile and a quarter and her trainer said he likes the distance for her. He also said she's coming off some good races, winning the Mother Goose in Belmont and coming in second in the Coaching Club American Oaks.
Trainer Tom Albertrani said, "Well, she's been very consistent. You know, she's always been first or second in all of her starts. She's always been a very promising filly right from the start. So, she trains well, and I think she's going into this race on top of her game. You know, it's not an easy spot to be in. We've got four fillies that are Grade 1 winners in here, but if she runs her race, we'll be happy with any placing she gives us as she has in the past."
