The Spa Spot: Dutrow to enter Willy Beamin in Travers
Richard Dutrow
Trainer Richard Dutrow says in
Daily Racing Form that he will enter Willy Beamin in the $1 million Travers Wednesday morning a few hours before the New York-bred runs in the $150,000 Albany. If the horse runs well in the Albany, Dutrow may wheel him back in the Travers.
Willy Beamin was claimed for $25,000 out of a victory at Aqueduct and has won all three of his starts, including the Mike Lee Stakes, for Dutrow and owner James Riccio.
It will cost Riccio $10,000 to enter Willy Beamin in the Travers. However, if the gelded son of Suave does start in the Travers, Riccio's cost to compete will drop by half because NYRA gives a $5,000 credit to all starters.
