AMD to move forward
MALTA, N.Y. -- All plans move forward for AMD to build three plants in the Luther Forest Tech Park. The town zoning committee has approved the company's revised plan to expand in Malta.

The town feels the new proposal has addressed some of the concerns about truck traffic and air quality. With the passing of the zoning, the ball is now in AMD's court.

Infrastructure is underway, including six miles of roads. If all goes as planned, AMD will bring in 1,400 jobs to operate the three plants.

"This is a great evening for us and a great evening for Malta. The next step is for AMD to make a commitment, which is what we are looking forward to doing and then the project will just move forward," said Terry Caudell, AMD Luther Forest Project Manager.

The computer chip company has until 2009 to start building at Luther Forest in order to get $1.2 billion in state incentives.
