Police looking seafood thieves
FULTONVILLE, N.Y. -- "There's been all kinds of jokes that something fishy is going on around the county", said Montgomery County Undersheriff Jeffery Smith.
And that's why the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office needs your help in tracking down a pair of late-night seafood bandits.
"Two females entered the Price Chopper store in Palatine Bridge, retrieved a tope from one of the aisles, went to the seafood cooler and loaded up the tope with approximatley 35 pounds of shrimp and 55 pounds of scallops," said Investigator Joseph Kilmartin.
And it was all caught on tape. Survaillance cameras show the women filling up and heading out.

"There's probably only three or four empolyees, one was probably in the back, the other two were stocking shelves, and the other one was on break. So you could probably walk in that store and steal anything you want and nobody would know that time at night," said Kilmartin.
Investigators believe the women stole the seafood to make a profit.
"I would just advise these restaurants, if this is something that's occuring, you don't know how long this food has been sitting around so it's not something you want to purchase from these people," said Kilmartin.
Authorities are starting to believe that this may be a trend because a similar situation happened at the Price Chopper right off Route 30.
"We had a gentleman that had purchased a lobster from a store in the town of Amsterdam, taken it home, ate the contents, put the lobster back together in the package and took it back to the store trying to exchange it saying that it was bad for a new set of crab legs," said Smith.
That person was caught and charged. In the meantime sheriff's deputies are still searching for the women in the latest incident.
"Anybody who can maybe give us an idea where to go, you can remain anonymous, you don't have to tell us your name," said Kilmartin.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office at 673-2554, 853-5500 or 736-1850. Tips may remain anonymous, but if the caller would like to speak to an investigator, they can ask for investigators Kilmartin, Serpa, Schaffer or Gilston.
