WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.Y. -- When Jaliek Rainwalker disappeared in the fall of 2007, it's not likely that he left with extra cash, credit cards or a cell phone. But according to Washington County Sheriff's Investigator Bruce Hamilton, when adults disappear, it's usually a totally different set of circumstances.

“Children are a pretty valuable resources, so you always take the extra steps that you can with those," said Hamilton.

And for adults, the perception is that the person took off.

"For the most part, that's usually what it is. If they have some problems at home, if there is something going on or they just need to get away,” said Hamilton.

If a loved one disappears, it's important to put together as much information as possible: bank records, phone numbers and personal information.

"People don't seem to be concerned when it's an adult. They may have more wherewithal to disappear rather than a child. Where a child, you usually think that something happened to them or abducted or something like that," said Hamilton.

But the wife of missing Ticonderoga man Jody King doesn't buy it.

"We find it hard to believe that he would just run off," said Casey Anderson.

King hasn't been seen since April 20th when he vanished in Connecticut, and since then, his family and friends have been plastering the internet with word of his disappearance.

Investigators in both Connecticut and Washington County say the search for King and Rainwalker is ongoing. But with few leads, both remain a mystery.
