SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Full military honors Thursday for the unknown Civil War soldier whose remains were found on a former Maryland battlefield last year.

The soldier was reburied Thursday at the Gerald B. Solomon National Cemetery in Saratoga Springs on the 147th anniversary of his death at the Battle of Antietam. The ceremony included a 21-gun salute by National Guardsman, a cemetery's honor guard and Civil War re-enactors.

The soldier's remains laid in repose Wednesday at the New York State Military Museum in Saratoga Springs. They arrived after being escorted by dozens of motorcyclists from the Patriot Guard Riders.
