TROY, N.Y. -- Senator Kirsten Gillibrand was back in school this weekend. She attended her 25th high school reunion at Emma Willard High School in Troy Sunday.
Senator Gillibrand sat down for an hour long Q-and-A with fellow Willard alumni and guests and credited her mother with encouraging her to attend the all girls’ school.
"My mother and a couple of her female friends came and talked to me and said high school is quite an opportunity. And if you have the opportunity to go to a high school of this caliber that has young women from all over the world you should take that opportunity and I’m glad I did,” said Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, (D) U.S. Senate.
Senator Gillibrand was also awarded the Accomplished Alumna Award. It is given each year to a distinguished Willard alumnus.
