SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- It seems the Toys for Tots Holiday Train is still "on track" after lack of financial support was making it seem like the delivery would be derailed.
Each year the train makes its way up New York on the Canadian Pacific Railway to deliver gifts to children and families at 12 locations. Santa Cause comes out too to find out what kids want for Christmas this year.
This year organizers and the US Marines worried the train wouldn't make the trip because they didn't have enough donations, but after telling Dunkin' Donuts they needed help, the company came up with the $20,000 needed to keep the train and the fundraiser chugging along.
"This holiday season it's so important to see the smiles on these kids' faces. It really brings joy at the Christmas season,” said Eric Stensland, Dunkin Donuts.
"We are also receiving toys- some of the local community here wants us to give some of the toys going up north to be able to give from their organizations as well which is all about the Christmas spirit,” said Albert Roman Jr. , US Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant.
Its last stop is Plattsburgh. The train will have delivered gifts to an estimated 30,000 children.
