GREENE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Fire breaks out at the Ashland Town Hall and fire house. Several fire companies responded to the fire Sunday. The fire damaged some fire and EMS equipment.
One ambulance was damaged but town EMS is still in service. More than 250 years worth of town records are also stored in the building. The Town Clerk says all the records made it out safe.
"I have records in that room dating back to the 1740s so there's a lot of important death, birth, marriage; it's in that room, but it has all been saved,” said Justine Koehler, Ashland Town Clerk.
As fire calls, Koehler says support will have to come from neighboring departments.
