ALBANY, N.Y. -- The State Troopers Police Benevolent Association is responding to the recent reports involving Governor Paterson and the State Police.
Paterson's administration and the State Police are under investigation about whether they intervened in a domestic violence case involving one of the governor's top aides.
The PBA president said the unflattering portrait of the New York State Police that is being painted in the wake of the reports is a disservice to the road troopers.
"The men and women who proudly wear the gray uniform and risk their lives continue to serve and protect the public without politics influencing their brave and selfless actions each and every day," said PBA President Thomas H. Mungeer. "We want to emphasize that road troopers are in no way, shape or form involved in these allegations. While it may be easy to confuse the reported actions of a few people in higher positions for the uniform-wearing men and women who respond to emergencies and keep our communities safe, we would like to remind everyone there is a distinct separation."
The investigation is being conducted by the state Attorney General's office.
