SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A Schenectady man was arrested after an early-morning shooting on State Street.
Schenectady police responded to Doug's Tailgate Tavern for a report of shots fired. When they arrived, witnesses said a man and woman were involved in a physical altercation. The fight then moved outside where others became involved.
Police said a male entered a vehicle and fired one shot back toward the bar while fleeing three other males. The accused shooter, Charles Hicks Jr., 22, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment.
While police were responding to the shooting on State Street, officers stopped a vehicle that matched the description of the one seen leaving the scene.
Police determined the vehicle and its occupants were not involved in the shooting but discovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun inside.
Curtis Perkins, 22, Derrinton Johnson, 16, Eric Harris, 19, and Jerome Jordan, 30, were arrested for second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
