SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Community groups came together to help save a piece of the Capital Region's great outdoors. The United for Thacher Benefit at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady celebrated the park which could fall victim to the New York's fiscal crisis.

In addition to raising funds to help revitalize John Boyd Thacher State Park, organizers passed out a petition will be available for signing, which will be sent to the Governor's urging him to keep the park open.

Local bands and artists were on hand, as well as a bike show courtesy of Broadway Choppers.
