ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Albany Arbor Hill area is getting a facelift. It's all a part of a revitalization project that's meant to add to the positive change that is happening throughout the neighborhood.

Albany Mayor Jennings, along with the United Way of the Greater Capital Region, unveiled a new plan for the North Swan Street Park. The park was identified in the city's Arbor Hill Neighborhood Plan as a priority for improvement. The project involves extensive renovation of the one acre plot that currently includes a basketball court and asphalt area that is in poor condition.

Organizers say the announcement is not just about building a park, it's about transforming a neighborhood.

"Well, this area has certain assets that really, given the potential for growth and further development and helping families and we know from the research that parks can be a vital keystone to strong neighborhoods, that are good for both business and families and community," said Katherine Pelham, CEO of the United Way of the Greater Capital Region.

The park will enhance the $41 million already invested in Arbor Hill since the plan was completed in 2003.
