It's been nearly three years since Jaliek Rainwalker was first reported missing. As the anniversary approaches, law enforcement is just now conducting a thorough search of the property where the then 12-year-old and his family lived. Matt Hunter has the latest.

GREENWICH, N.Y. -- Three years after Jaliek Rainwalker's disappearance, police searched the property of the missing boy's adoptive father Steve Kerr once again.

Police were only able to do a brief search of the property at the time Jaliek was reported missing, but as police began to question Steven Kerr and focus on him as part of their investigation, they were not allowed back to do a complete search, until now.

Though it didn't turn up anything, police say getting the chance to head back to the area was important.

"The property here at 54 Raven Way was sold over the summer to a gentleman whom we got permission to come back here and search. It's always been, initially when we came here, we based our search off of the lost child some three years ago. Since then things have changed, along with our relationship with Jaliek's parents, we were unable to come back here and do a thorough search, so this kind of gives us the opportunity to do that," said Cambridge/Greenwich Police Chief George Bell.

"Part of me hopes Jaliek is found here and recovered and part of me hopes that he's still alive. But after almost three years, I feel like he could possibly still be here," said Jaliek's grandmother, Barbara Reeley.

Kerr has since moved out of the area.
