On Oct. 20, 2008, Richard Bailey, 22, was walking home after watching football with his friends when he was shot at the corner of Yates Street and South Lake Avenue. Three arrests were made the following September.

Callicutt, 20, is on trial for first-degree murder. He is accused of shooting Bailey in the head while trying to rob him.

King Jamell Modest, 18, and Ricardo Caldwell, 19, have pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree robbery and are expected to testify against Callicutt at the trial.

Bailey was a senior at UAlbany, majoring in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice. He wanted to become a New York City police officer like his father. Bailey's parents accepted his college degree during the winter commencement in December 2008.
