BROADALBIN, N.Y. -- Autopsy results are back in the case of the Northville man who was run over this weekend in Broadalbin.
The Fulton County Sheriff's office says off-duty state trooper Brian Beardsley was driving when he ran over 29-year-old Chad Finch. Beardsley's girlfriend called 911, but they left the scene. The sheriff says Beardsley later turned himself in and he was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
Beardsley pleaded not guilty in court and was released on $1,000 bail. He's also been suspended without pay while the investigation into the crash is conducted.
The Fulton County Sheriff's office examined Beardsley's vehicle and say it did come in contact with Finch. The sheriff's office says they feel confident in the findings.
"The autopsy results he died from multiple trauma, he died instantly. The autopsy surgeon is confident no other vehicle is involved in this accident," said Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey.
Lorey says they believe Finch had left a nearby bar and was walking home when he was run over. Officials say he had a blood alcohol level of twice the legal limit.
