TROY, N.Y. -- A surprise witness heated up the Michael Mosley double murder trial. The Wynantskill man is charged with stabbing Samuel Holley and his girlfriend to death inside their Troy home back in 2002.
Prosecutors called forensic meteorologist Howard Altschuleto to the stand Friday. Altschuleto testified there was no snow on the ground the day Mosley says he cut his hand while snowboarding. Mosley says he found the bodies the next day, which is why his blood and hand print were found at the scene of the crime.
Prosecutors once again questioned Mosley as to why he never told police he'd been to the crime scene.
The defense admit that Mosley did lie about what had happened, but only because he didn't trust police.
"He was right down the middle. He was very candid and very truthful. If he wanted to make stuff up, he certainly could have, but he didn't," defense attorney Terence Kindlon said.
Altschuleto will continue his testimony Tuesday. The prosecution will likely then call another rebuttal witness, a Troy police officer.
