Driver charged in crash that killed son and son's girlfriend
SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y. -- State Police have arrested the driver involved in a fatal crash in Rensselaer County on Friday.

Philip Dobert, 51, of Schaghticoke is charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, felony DWI, as well as vehicle and traffic law violations after State Police said he crashed his car into a pole on Route 40.

Dobert's son, Kyle Dobert, 20, and his son's girlfriend, Alisha Schoonmaker, 20, were killed in the crash.

Dobert was treated at Albany Medical Center for his injuries and released on Sunday. He was arraigned and sent to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.

State Police said Dobert had previously been convicted of DWI within the past 10 years.
