COLONIE, N.Y. -- Investigators comb through Room 243 at Super 8 Motel in Colonie for evidence after a deadly encounter early Sunday that left a woman with fatal stab wounds and another man wounded.

"I was shocked when I walked out," said motel guest Timmy Oxendine. "I didn't know what was going on. As soon as I saw that yellow tape, I figured somebody got killed or something."

Police say a man called 911, reporting that he and a woman he was sharing a room with, were both suffering from cuts.

"The female succumbed to her wounds, she was found deceased at the scene, he was transported to Albany Med for his wounds," said Lt. Robert Winn, Colonie Police Department.

One woman staying at the motel says she was actually out on this top terrace smoking a cigarette when cops say the stabbing happened. She says she didn't hear anything and suspect that investigators will now have to rely on surveillance video for clues.

"We don't know nothing, we didn't see nothing," said Oxendine.

A motel clerk says video captured by cameras mounted around the motel are only being released to police.

In the meantime, the victims' identities haven't been revealed. Cops have only said that they're both from the Capital District, are between 20 to 35 years old and booked that room for just one night. There's no word on how they both wound up seriously hurt.

"There's no report of any fight prior to that, they are familiar with each other," said Winn.

The male victim is expected to recover. There is no doubt police will be paying close attention to his account as the investigation continues.
