COLONIE, N.Y. -- A Ravena man died Monday night when he was hit by a car while attempting to cross Central Avenue. It happened around 11 p.m. near the intersection with Lincoln Avenue.

Colonie police said the 57-year-old man had purchased items at the gas station and was crossing the street to get back to his hotel when he was hit by a car. He suffered severe head and neck injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Police do not believe speed or alcohol were factors for the driver, but they said it was raining heavily and the victim was wearing dark clothing and not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.
