LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. -- At a time of year when activity in Lake George is supposed to slow down, the Warren County Sheriff's Office have an apparent murder/suicide on their hands, as the remains of a 29-year-old man and his two young daughters are found inside a tent at the Adirondack Camping Village on Finkle Road.

Sheriff Nathan "Bud" York said, "We have no reason to believe that there is any involvement of anyone else. It appears at this time that it was a murder-suicide."

According to the sheriff's department, on Tuesday morning the campground's owners found the bodies of Adam Parcells, 29, of Hilton, his 10-year-old daughter Noel of Rochester and his 3-year-old daughter Mia of Hilton, after noticing the family's car had been opened and left in the same spot for more than 24 hours. Investigators believe Parcells used a Hi Point .45 caliber rifle either late Monday or early Tuesday.

By now, there's almost no evidence left over at the campsite that the shootings even took place. The ground has been filled in with sand and plowed over. But this is the location that deputies say the campground's owner found the three bodies inside the tent, along with a rifle and a teddy bear.

Sheriff York said, "We believe they were here camping since Saturday. We believe they were shot numerous times by a weapon found at the scene."

According to Sheriff York, the two girls have different mothers. He said the mother of Noel Parcells filed a missing person's report with Rochester police on Friday, but to his knowledge, no Amber Alert was ever filed and it remains unclear if the camping trip was planned or if the girls were taken against their will. The gruesome act appears to have gone unnoticed by other campers.

Sheriff York said, "There were not a lot of tents near it. Up over the hill, we interviewed everyone we could find there today, and a number of people have already left."

The investigation is ongoing and Sheriff York said autopsies of the two young girls and Adam Parcells will be performed at Albany Medical Center.
